DTF File Guidelines

To ensure the highest print quality for your DTF gang sheets and DTF transfers, it’s important that your artwork follows the correct file requirements. Proper files result in sharper colors, cleaner edges, and long-lasting prints on your garments.

Follow these guidelines before uploading your artwork.

1. File Types We Accept

For best results, submit your artwork in one of the following formats:

  • PNG (Recommended) — supports transparency, ideal for DTF

  • PDF (Single Page Only) — must be ONE sheet

  • SVG / AI / EPS — vector files, perfect for logos and clean graphics

  • JPG — accepted, but not recommended unless on a transparent mockup

2. Resolution Requirements

Your artwork must be 300 DPI at the exact size you want it printed.

Why 300 DPI?

Low-resolution files (72 DPI or screenshots) will print blurry, pixelated, or fuzzy. DTF requires crisp, high-quality images for accurate color and detail.

3. Color Format

Use RGB Color Mode Only

Our printers are calibrated for RGB, not CMYK.

  • RGB produces brighter, more vibrant colors

  • CMYK files may shift, dull, or print inaccurately

If you upload CMYK artwork, color changes may occur — RGB ensures accuracy.

4. Background Requirements

Your artwork must have a transparent background.

  • No white boxes

  • No hidden backgrounds

  • No flattened white shapes behind the design

If you aren’t sure, export the file as PNG and check transparency before uploading.

5. No Mirroring Needed

Do NOT mirror or flip your artwork.

We automatically mirror all designs during production for proper heat pressing.

6. Sizing Your Artwork

Your design should be uploaded at the exact size you want it printed.

Examples:

  • Adult chest print: 11 inches wide

  • Plus size (XL–2XL): 12.5 inches wide

  • Oversize back print: 14 inches wide

  • Pocket print: 3–4 inches

If you upload a small graphic expecting it to print larger, it will lose quality.
Always size before uploading.

7. Recommended File Setup for Gang Sheets

If you are building your own gang sheet:

  • Arrange multiple designs on one canvas

  • Keep 0.25–0.5 inch spacing between graphics

  • Make sure all artwork meets DPI and color requirements

  • Export as one single PNG or PDF

If you upload separate files, our builder will place them individually.

8. Avoid These Common Artwork Problems

To prevent print errors, do not upload:

  • Screenshots or photos of designs

  • Images saved from Facebook or Google (low quality)

  • Blurry or pixelated files

  • Files under 300 DPI

  • Artwork with hidden or faint backgrounds

  • Designs with extremely thin lines under 0.5 pt

  • Tiny text under 8 px

These issues result in poor-quality or unreadable prints.

9. How to Check Your File Before Uploading

Quick checklist:

✔ Is your file PNG, PDF, or vector?
✔ Is your artwork 300 DPI?
✔ Is your background transparent?
✔ Is the artwork sized correctly?
✔ Is the color mode RGB?
✔ Are all details large enough to print clearly?

If all answers are yes — your file is ready!
